Special Programs 

504/ IDEA

Section 504 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Special Education Services

About one of every eight Texas public school students need special education services.  A wide array of services and support are available for these students and their families.  Click HERE for more info on Texas Special Education Program from the Texas Education Agency.  You may also contact the Special Education director of OISD.

GT Program

A gifted/ talented student is a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who

     - exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;

     - possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or

     - excels in a specific academic field. (Texas Education Code 29.121)
